SECRETARIAT
 
Time and location of the secretariat:
 
February 21, Saturday from 8:30 to 13:00 in the arena of Lamas and from 15:00 to 18:30 in Vila do Geres
 

February 22, Sunday from 8:00 to 12:30 in the arena of Serra da Cabreira.

 


EVENT BIBS 

All athletes will have personalized bibs. Bibs must be collected at the secretariat before the competition start.

No athlete will be allowed to start without the event bib


RACE TIMES

Maximum race times for middle distance 2h00, sprint 1h00 and long distance 3h00 (if you don´t finish your race please inform the organization).

 

RULES

The event will be ruled by Portuguese Orienteering Federation regulations. For any other situation not foreseen IOF regulations will apply.

 

CONTROL SYSTEM

Each athlete must have an SI-Card – SportIdent (the organization will rent to anyone who doesn’t have).

In case of failure of any control station it is mandatory to punch the reserved area (R1, R2, R3) in the map.

FINISH AREA

Meals service

Light meals service will be available at the midlle and long distance finish areas.

Parking

Parking will be along the existing road, near the finishing areas.

At midlle distance race cars and buses will park along the existing road, after passing the finish area.

At long distance race cars will park along the existing earth road, after passing the finish area. Buses will park along the existing earth road, near the finish area.   

Babysitting

Babisitting service with orienteering activities for children will be available at the finish area.

WC

Portable WC facilities will be available at tha finish area. 


SLEEPING FLOOR

Sleeping floor will be available at Vieira do Minho Sport Hall. Opening hours from 22h00 20th february (Friday) until 16h00 22nd february (Sunday). Athlets must bring their own matress and sleeping bag.  


 
TRAINING and MODEL EVENTS MAPS 
 
The training and model events maps will be available at Tourist Offices of Vila do Gerês and Vieira do Minho from Tuesday, February 18th.
 
The training map in Salto has only tape that will be placed from 12 February until 26 February. It costs € 2.
The Model Event 1 - Sta Isabel do Monte, Terras de Bouro (same area, different map) has flags on the ground that are available on Thursday, February 19th and has a cost of € 3.
The Model Event 2 - Santa Isabel do Monte, Terras de Bouro (same area, different map) has flags on the ground that are available on Friday, February 20th and has a cost of € 3.

DESCRIPTION

Easy Short

Courses between 2 and 4 km, using linear references, especially paths, without technical difficulty. There is no need of Orienteering knowledge or physical endurance. It's a good opportunity to walk in the forest and enjoy the nature.

Difficult Short

Courses between 3 and 5 km, where is essential to have some Orienteering skills. Medium technical difficulty and low physical endurance needed.

Easy Long

Courses between 4 and 6 km, with low technical and physical demand and using mainly linear references.

Difficult Long

Course between 4 and 7 km. Medium/high physical endurance needed and some solid Orienteering techniques.
